Pearls are organic gems produced by a mollusk. They were one of the first gem types that mankind treasured.
Pearls are formed by layers of calcium carbonate platelets and conchiolin, which is the organic “glue” in nacre.
PEARLS REQUIRE SPECIAL ATTENTION AND CAREFUL CLEANING:
Some chemicals may harm pearls
Apply makeup, perfume and hair products before putting on pearl jewelry
Put your pearls on last and take them off first
Pearls can be scratched easily when metal or gemstones rub against them. Store them separately from other jewelry
